105 to 72, Open Studios, Feng Shui, Metal, Frank Leonard Photography – October 2016

Hello dear friends,
 .
I want to thank each of you, especially those of you who have followed me these many years.  I think what makes me the happiest about my photography is that it keeps changing, and it keeps changing me.  I get bored easily sticking to the same style.  In the eight years since I retired from public education, my photography has continued to evolve, from a focus on the erotic in the beginning, to a present love of fine art images that evoke mood and connection in the viewer.  Bodies of work such as “The Nude As Nature,” and “Flights of Fancy” are the culmination of my evolution to date, and I am very proud of them both.  They, in my being, connect me to the beauty of the feminine, the context of the land, and now, the far reaches of the galaxy.  Nude figure photography, landscape photography, astrophotography, it doesn’t get any better than that, bringing the three together in composites that come not from outside myself, but from inside myself, and which are expressions of as much creativity as I am capable.  There are no limits, no boxes, no rules, nothing to keep me from letting images arise in my mind, and then attempting to create them in an artistic expression.  That’s my hope, that’s my goal.  I hope you come out for my Open Studios show.  There are 18 images in the “Flights of Fancy” body of work.  In addition, I have printed and framed 20 new photographs for the gallery, bringing the show total to 72 pieces.  There are two new metal prints that I can’t wait to show you!
 .
Also, I have cut the numbers of photos on my walls from 105 down to 72.  I have created Feng Shui, much more open space around photos than ever before.  One room went from holding 32 photographs to 21.  The feeling is incredibly different.  And anything not on the walls is gone.  Distractions to the art have been cut to a minimum.
.
This year I am privileged to host another artist, Bob Hughes, a woodworker and a jewelry box maker of exquisite designs.  The markings he places on them are for me meditational images.  I know you will enjoy his work!  Bob and I would love to see you.  We would love to show you our art.  Please come and visit us, even if you can only spend a few minutes.
.
Hoping to see you soon,
.
Frank.
